A Farmington rafting couple used their (20 years) of swiftwater experience to rescue pets stranded during historic San Juan County floods, housing some in a temporary shelter they helped set up at their Desert River Guide warehouse and reuniting others with families.

A Farmington warehouse has been converted into a temporary animal shelter to care for pets and livestock displaced by San Juan River flooding, with volunteers and Farmington Regional Animal Shelter staffing it since Friday and the site staying open as long as needed while accepting donations and volunteer help.

Brown High School in Bloomfield after flood damage, with crews cleaning and replacing flooring, carpet, and drywall. The school district shared progress photos and says students may return by Feb. 2027.

Nearly 9,000 San Juan County households were under a boil water advisory on Friday after E. coli was found in the Lower Valley Water Users Association system serving Kirtland, Fruitland and Waterflow; residents were advised to boil water for three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking and cleaning.
