ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ New Mexico rescue crews are warning residents not to play in arroyos and ditches during storms as rain can quickly fill these areas and cause water to rush up to 30 miles an hour—posing serious risks. They advise anyone caught in flowing water to float on their back with feet downstream and to wait until the current slows before seeking help. KOAT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ San Juan County Commission reviewed an interim 2026 budget that stresses public safety hiring and plans $23.4 million in capital projects—final review will occur in July. Fire and Rescue responded to a 1.5-acre brush fire near Hart Canyon on May 13th, and Pesco will move into a 45-acre property at the Industrial Park—creating 80 jobs and $60 million a year in revenue.
