- ➤ Bloomfield police officer Timothy Ontiveros died on May 26 after being shot during a traffic stop — he underwent multiple surgeries at the University of New Mexico before he passed away. KOAT
- ➤ The U.S. Attorney’s office reported that last week 92 people were arrested for illegal entry+51 for illegal re-entry, 9 for human smuggling, and 13 charged with illegal entry into the new National Defense Area, including cases where an Egyptian citizen allegedly pointed a firearm at a homeless man and another suspect received a 10-year sentence for operating an alien stash house. - ➤ Two caregivers, Patricia Hurtado and Angelita Chacon, accused of abusing patient Mary Melero—whose injuries led to her death—will appear in court today after officials said they violated their release conditions by removing their ankle monitors and contacting each other. KOAT

- ➤ Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed a task force—chaired by state engineer Elizabeth Anderson—to develop a plan by July 31 to tackle New Mexico's severe drought and fire dangers. Record flash flood emergencies last year—16 in total—highlight the urgent need for measures as below average rainfall leaves reservoirs low. KOAT
