COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Farmington Public Library Foundation will hold its annual book sale — books cost $1 each — from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 23 to raise funds for library upgrades. The San Juan County Fair and Carnival will run from August 11 to 17 at McGee Park with a parade at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 8, and the Navajo Song and Dance event will be held from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 23 at the Farmington Museum where visitors should bring their own chairs.  Farmington Local News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • McKinley County District Attorney Bernadine Martin held a news conference near the courthouse in Gallup Tuesday to refute claims of mishandling cases after funding for her office was cut and redirected to the San Juan County D.A.'s office. She warned her office will run out of funds by August 12th and may face staff layoffs—State Senator George Muñoz mentioned a potential grand jury while special prosecutor Johanna Cox dismissed allegations of low prosecution rates.  KOAT
