CRIME NEWS

  • Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA who led nearly 5,000 supporters at an Aug. 11 event in Albuquerque at Legacy Church, was killed in Utah on Wednesday and left local leaders such as State Sen. Sharer and Eastern New Mexico University advisor Gonzalez heartbroken—urging respectful dialogue.  KOAT

HEALTH NEWS

  • A study by the New Mexico Department of Health showed that suicide deaths increased 9% in 2024 to 512, which is 42 more than in 2023 — 60% involved a firearm and white New Mexicans had the highest rate while Hispanic rates rose 27% over the last decade.  KOAT
